Travelling again
A few months ago I got it into my head that we should have a short holiday again. I would have liked to go to Tokyo again but with the Rugby World Cup on that was not a goer. After some discussion and prompting by something I read in the Guardian, Portland Oregon was chosen as the destination.
According to the material I read, Oregon is one of the liberal US states and Portland has a reputation for good food, craft beer, coffee and alternative transport options, including cycling. That seemed like a perfect place to go in autumn when it is cooler. However, we won't be spending all that much time in the city as exercise seems to be focus of the holiday!
We have four and a half days of cycling booked. Three days will be spent cycling through the Willamette Valley which is the wine region where it has highly regarded pinot noir. We have another day's outing, riding up the Columbia River Gorge, which should be fun. Then a bike ride around the city. The exercise should compensate for all the eating and drinking we might do.
So a nice adventure awaits us.
